Underground Cities

Synopsis

In a distant future, the Earth's protective atmosphere deteriorated, allowing harmful radiation to reach the surface of the planet. The surface of the planet warmed up and became hostile. Some individuals tried to build massive structures to protect themselves from the harmful environments (domes and large surface screens). Others went into caves and underground. As years went by, the surface of the planet became more hostile and unlivable. The radiation and heat made the surface of the Earth a desolate wasteland. The population who had tried to survive above land, eventually died away. Yet, the underground population flourished and expanded - creating large complex underground cities. They never went above ground anymore. The underground cities would pull light, air and water from the surface through pipes, filters and mirrors. The underground world was amazing. Animals, fields, houses and roads all existing underground, protected from the harmful radiation by miles of thick rock above.
